Welcome

You’ve stumbled upon the Davis Species and Habitats Lab (aka the “DaSH” Lab!) at Oregon State University. We study ecosystem and community level responses to environmental disturbance and ecosystem change. Our lab uses a variety of analytical tools such as species distribution models, stream spatial network models, lifecycle models, state-space models, and multivariate statistical methods to evaluate species-habitat relationships. Much of our work centers on landscape scale processes and their effects on target species, especially with respect to climate change. We use spatiotemporal datasets to evaluate how habitats are shifting due to natural and anthropogenic disturbance and the resultant implications for dependent fish and wildlife species. Our goal is to inform the conservation and management of sensitive species and their habitats. With this in mind, we also develop monitoring tools, programs, and strategies to inform management actions for our cooperator agencies.
